Rolling out the Red Carpet

Sept 26th at 7:00 pm at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, Vancouver BC – as the reigning USPORTS bronze medalist UBC Thunderbirds will welcome Isabelle Fortin, one of ten grant recipients from the Grindstone Award Foundation, to drop the ceremonial first puck at the exhibition series ‘Harmony through Hockey’ between the UBC Thunderbirds and Kunlun Red Star.

The UBC Thunderbirds are a proud supporter of the Grindstone Award Foundation – a registered Canadian Charity that provides financial assistance to keep girls in the game. Dominique Di Rocco, Assistant Coach of the Thunderbirds will present the grant to Isabelle alongside the President of the Grindstone Foundation, Danielle Grundy. “This is a wonderful opportunity to work together with UBC to increase awareness of the charity and female hockey so we can reach more families in need”, says Grundy.

The Harmony through Hockey series is great exposure to improve growth of female hockey on an international level. Kunlun Red Star is China’s first official team to join the CWHL.

We are thrilled to host award recipient Isabelle Fortin and welcome her to Skate with the Thunderbirds during warm up of our game vs Kunlun.
