ABOUT the EVENT
Join the Toronto Furies of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) for an exclusive Skills Clinic on November 17th, 2018, in support of the Grindstone Award Foundation. The goal of the event is to raise funds and awareness for the Grindstone Award Foundation, a Registered Canadian Charity, with the mission to provide financial support for female hockey players in need.
This is an opportunity to learn from the best and participate in a private skills session run by professional players. Afterwards, listen and learn tips and tricks during the Furies Hot Stove from players who know what it takes to compete at the highest levels. After increasing your knowledge base, watch the Furies players you’ve met compete on the ice in their game against the CWHL’s Calgary Inferno. Game ticket included in registration fee.

Space is very limited! We will only accept the first 30 players in each group due to capacity. First come first serve. Registration deadline is November 7th, so please register ASAP to guarantee your spot.
This event is open to Youth Girls players between the ages of 6 and 16, youth players will be grouped according to skill levels. Registration fee covers your on-ice skills clinic, a meet and greet with the Toronto Furies players, locker room tour, Furies Hot Stove Q & A and ticket to the game vs Calgary. Proceeds will be donated by the Furies to the Grindstone Charity.
During the event, stop by our Grindstone Award Foundation table to say hi and find out more about our cause. We’ll have apparel for sale and will accept donations.
The Toronto Furies are proud to support the Grindstone Award Foundation – knowing they are a newly formed grassroots movement and one of the only charities across Canada specifically supporting female hockey. If you are interested in supporting the Grindstone Award Foundation, please reach out to us.

ABOUT the Toronto Furies & The CWHL
Founded in 2007, the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) was created with two goals — create a place for the highest-level women’s hockey players to continue to compete and hone their skills, and to create a future for the sport of women’s hockey. The CWHL currently consists of 6 teams located in Canada, The United States and China, who all compete for the Clarkson Cup Championship.
The Toronto Furies are a professional women’s ice hockey team that plays their home games at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto, Ontario, as members of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. Most of the players from the Furies inaugural season played the 2010–11 season with the former Toronto Aeros franchise. The team adopted the name “Furies” after the 2011 Clarkson Cup.
During the 2013–14 CWHL season, there were a handful of milestones which the Furies reached. On February 9, 2014, a victory against the defending Clarkson Cup champion Boston Blades provided Furies goaltender Sami Jo Small with the 60th victory of her career, making her the 1st goalie to reach the 60 wins plateau. A March 8th, 2014 game against the Brampton Thunder resulted in Meagan Aarts reaching 100 points in her CWHL career. To finish the season, the Furies defeated the Boston Blades by a score of 1–0 in overtime to claim their first Clarkson Cup title in 2014. With the victory, Natalie Spooner became the first woman in hockey history to claim the gold medal in the Olympic Winter Games and the Clarkson Cup in the same year. During the summer of 2016, Kori Cheverie retired from the Furies with three franchise records: points (82), games played (152) and power play goals (14). In addition, she holds the league record for most consecutive games played with 152.
