Grundy on Hockey Night in Canada

In case you missed it, our very own Danielle Grundy was on Hockey Night in Canada Saturday April 08, 2017 on Chevy’s Power of Play! Please check out the video.

Sportsnet’s Chevy’s Power of Play recognizes those making a positive contribution in their communities. We are proud of Danielle and her achievements. We are even more proud of our Grindstone Award Foundation and are excited for the potential future opportunities this will bring.

We asked Danielle what her thoughts were on this experience, “It was a huge honour being highlighted and recognized for the contributions that I guess you could say… I just don’t think of. You never are out looking for recognition, but I do appreciate it,” said Grundy, co-founder of the Grindstone Award Foundation alongside Sasha Podolchak. “I never knew how much time and footage they put into a one minute clip,” laughed Grundy. “I will never look at another one minute commercial the same.”

Although we are proud of this opportunity, we are looking forward to the next step we will take here at Grindstone. Our aspiration is to at least triple our young female grants for the 2017-2018 season. We asked Sasha what the next initiative is, “we have been working hard doing our first ever Charity Tournament in July, we are looking to fill an 8 team roster for this event and all proceeds from the event will go towards this initiative” said Sasha. Are there other initiatives or events like this across Canada helping young female players? “No, actually, we are a one of kind currently.” Sasha and Grundy are proud of what they have accomplished in a short couple of years and are looking forward to what the future holds for their foundation and the players they support.

For more information on the Charity Tournament and to register please check out this linkGrindstone Charity TournamentOr if you would like to get involved or donate please get in contact with us.

Congratulations Grundy again for your feature, keep up the good work of giving back and inspiring these young women with the knowledge and experience you have accumulated.

“Hockey isn’t easy and neither is life. Hockey builds the determination, grit and good habits that help build success.” – Grundy
